This lesson we got set a visualisation task to listen to the song 'No Rest' whilst imagining what would be happening in a music video without actually being shown the real music video.
This was the real music video:
1. What images are conjuring up in your mind when you hear the song?
I came up with ideas of a man walking through a maze with thornes sticking out of it and then it contrasts to scenes of the band singing. Then throughout the music video these two scenes keep changing to show the journey of love that he went through.
2. What kind of video/ visuals/ effects? Consider performance/ narrative/ concept?
The visuals show facial expressions of the man that has had his heart broken and then it shows facial expressions of the band playing the actual song live. Effects that are used is making everywhere look dark adn gloomy to show that he is heartbroken.
3. What are the emotions it stirs in you?
The emotion that came to my head was that he was sad and depressed because he has had his heart broken. He is expressing how much he loved the person he lost.
What ideas did the other people in the class come up with?
-A wedding was happening then it goes to a reverse time line of photos of the couple single (before they met) then it would reverse even more and it would lead to divorce infidelity.
-An old peasant in ancient Rome, searching for gold, whilst the roman soldiers were chased by guards all for love.
-A singer walking away from the camera along a road in Spain village, then it changes to the beach and it shows flashbacks of the past relationships.
-An urban London theme of a man walking on the pavement with everything blurry in the background and his wife is walking past him fast with another man.
-A mans body parts falling off his body throughout the song then his body is slowly falling away until it ends up as a pile of ash.
-A close up shot of a man with a sky behind the camera revolving then the band playing in the air slow motion, a woman goes past and tries to grab her.
