Emma-Homework

8th September: Today we discussed our ideas further and managed to get our ideas down to three songs which were DJ Sammy's Heaven, Ellie Goulding-Be mine and Ellie Goulding You my everything. We also came up with pro's and con's to each song, but overcome them and made a final decision

This took a lot of discussion and we had to figure out what would work and what wouldn't and what would be best suited to our group as we are an all girl group so we did not have a boy to lip sync if there were any boy parts within the song.

9th September: Today we brain stormed idea’s for each of the songs that we had come up with so this helped us to finally decide on a song for our final music video. We really liked Heaven DJ Sammy but we found that it was really slow and emotional and even though it would be a really good song to do it would be hard to achieve, especially as the song is about love.

10th September: Today we worked on a PowerPoint to present our ideas to the class to show them all of our ideas so we could get feedback from other people on what they think of our song choices and what one they think will be most successful.

11th September: Today we presented our ideas to the class so we could get their feedback on what they think that we would have a lot of chances to include creative ideas.

12th September: Today we researched music videos that were by similar artists to ours so we could get an idea of what our artist would wear and how the video would be set out.

15th September: Next we found things that inspired us for our video such as fireworks, sparklers and the program Skins which helped us to create a version for our music video.

16th September: Today we worked on a timeline for our music video we got the lyrics and planned out a shot for each part of the song. We decided to do this so we could put our version for our music video onto paper and this helped to create our storyboard later on.

17th September: Today we had decided who would be the main star for our music video so we did a lip syncing task. We whittled the decision down to Charlotte and I as we both said we would not mind being the star, however we all made a group decision that Charlotte would be best for the role. Charlotte lip synced to the song Pia Mia- Just hold on were going home. We filmed this with a microphone in the recording studio so it looked more professional. We filmed the lip syncing twice so that we could get two different angles of the singing. We then went back to class and edited the song so that it looked more professional. We put a black and white filter over it and we added fades to change from the shots.

18th September: Today Lara created some mood boards for our music video including costumes for both males and females in the video and inspirations and themes we came up with.  Also Lara and I created the website on Wix for our artist 'Grace Starr'.

19th September: Today we started on the storyboard for our music video. Charlotte drew the pictures whilst Lara and I added the timings in and worked out what type each shot would be and we coloured them in afterwards.

22nd September: We continued to draw the storyboard and once we finished we photographed it and uploaded it into adobe Premiere so we could add a voice over so we could explain each shot into detail. I was the voice over for the storyboard and Charlotte edited it.

23rd September: We continued with the storyboard and adding a voice over. We soon realised that the shots on our storyboard were not broken down into enough detail so we began to add more shots to the storyboard. We also found some digipak inspiration so we could take them into consideration when making our own digipak for our artist. Lara found some inspiration for inspiration for makeup and researched on YouTube Effy from skins makeup tutorials that we could work towards.

24th September: I continued to draw more shots for the storyboard and Lara recorded a voice over for the mood board to help explain our overall version in more detail.

25th September: Today we created social media for our star, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Lara and I added another page onto our website and created a 'merchandise' page. We made different types of merchandise from tops to phone cases so that our fans can purchase them. After this we had a general blogging day where we added more detail to our blogs about our production so far. I continued with the Storyboard.

26th September: In class today we worked on our storyboard, as there was a problem with it when we thought we had finished. Therefore we went through and added some shots because we originally made a mistake. When we had done that, we continued to do a voice over on it to add more detail.

29th September: Throughout this lesson we kept updating Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We kept adding posts and writing tweets to promote to our fans the music video that is on its way.

30th September: Today we worked on updating our blog to make sure its up to the highest standard. Also we all worked together to complete the Shooting schedule for our filming.

1st October: On our inset day at school we all went to Charlotte's house to do a photo-shoot of the upcoming star and some lip syncing along to the song so we could use this for the lip syncing parts of our music video. We borrowed some light from the school and took them to the set to make the lighting look more professional. When doing the photo-shoot we had Lara as the make-up artist and she also did Charlotte's makeup, I directed the shoot and suggested different angles for Charlotte to place herself in.

Here are a couple of pictures we took from the shoot and a shot of behind the scenes action and the lights:

2nd October: Today we uploaded all of our footage onto the computer and looked at it. Charlotte, Lara and I all looked at the photos and edited them onto Photoshop to make them look more professional. Here is the before and after image of one photo we have edited.

3rd October: We continued to edit all the photographs so they looked more professional.

6th October: Today we aimed to finalise the storyboard and finish all the voice overs and editing.

7th October: In lesson today Charlotte and I were working on the presentation we have to present to the class on Wednesday. The presentation is about our upcoming star and how we are promoting her.

8th October: Today in class we presented the PowerPoint we have made to the class to show off and promote our artist. This was filmed by our teacher.

9th October: In our lesson today we worked individually to make a PowerPoint for an artist that we have chosen, and in the PowerPoint we have to analyse the album cover of the artist and a single that we have chosen. I have chosen the song F for you by the artist Disclosure.

10th October: On Saturday night we all went to Charlotte's to film for our final music video. Lara did all the girls hair and makeup. Charlotte's friends also came so altogether there was 7 of us to film with. I arrived at Charlotte's at 4.30 and left about 9 O'clock, we got at least 17 minutes of footage even though we need 3 so we are going to need a lot of time for editing and cutting.

13th October: In the lesson today Charlotte and I went through all the footage that we got from Saturday night and then we added it onto Adobe Premier. We started to edit and put together the music video.

14th October: Today in class we are working individually to update our blogs to make sure everything is in order.

15th October: In the class today I have carried on with editing a little bit of the music video and carry on with updating my blog as I have missed a couple of vital posts.

16th October: In our Media lesson today all three of us in the group worked together to edit out music video and add more and different effects to it.

17th October: Today I looked at the photographs that we took before filming our music video, I deleted the bad ones and I uploaded the good ones onto the blog and explained what is going on in the photo.

20th October: We carried on editing our film and we have realised that we haven't got enough footage so we are going to have to film for a third time at some point soon. We also filmed the glow sticks scene in the school cupboard and showed them snapping and becoming colourful.

21st October: In our lesson we were preparing for filming our interview with the star by researching questions and answers that we are going to ask then we have planned to film in our next lesson.

22nd October: Today we filmed our MTV interview with Grace Starr herself, I filmed Lara and Charlotte  the audience and then we started to edit it afterwards.

23rd October: In class today Lara carried on editing the interview that we filmed with Grace Starr. Charlotte and I carried on with more blog work.

24th October: Today we all viewed music videos that we could find to see what worked well and what doesn't work so well.
3rd November: Today Lara and I created a survey monkey that the audience can fill in so we can answer some questions on audiences.

4th November: Today, we did some more thinking on what we could include in our extra footage.

5th November: Today we added some extra footage that we could include into our video to improve her image by showing a different side to our artist.

6th November: We added all of our footage onto the computers and started looking through at what worked well and what did not work well.

7th November: Today the group started to edit our new footage and added it into our existing video.

10th November: I carried on improving my blog whilst, Lara went over the website and started making improvements. She also created a mobile site to make sure that if people was to access it through a mobile phone it would look good too.

11th November: During today’s lesson  Lara, Charlotte and I all carried on editing our music video and then we realised that we are going to have to film again for the 4th time so we have enough footage to finish the music video. We then started to plan when we are next going to film and we have decided to film in the drama studio rather than Charlotte’s house and we are going to make sure we have a better background behind the artist.

12th November: During the lesson today we were preparing to film for the 4th time. Lara and I went back to Charlotte’s house to do her hair and makeup. We then went back to school into the drama studio and set up the production. We had three cameras on Charlotte from all different angles and the lighting and background changes with her performing.

13th November: We looked at all the footage we had got from the night before in the lesson today. Lara started playing around with Premier Effects to help make it look more professional. I then updated the shooting schedule and risk assessment.

14th November: Today we carried on editing with the footage we have got then Lara and I was also experimenting with the effects on Adobe Premier.

17th November: During the lesson today Lara, Charlotte and I all sat down and went through all the footage we had so far so then we could edit and improve our music video. Lara carried on looking at the website again to check for improvements.

18th November: In this lesson I was experimenting with Adobe Premier and carried on editing for our music video. Lara then started to change things on the website and created more merchandise and got rid of the basic pieces we had available from the store.

19th November: Today I carried on adding more posts to my blog to make it better and more detailed.

20th November: During the lesson today Miss was looking through our blogs to give us some feedback for the next day at the same time Lara was editing our music video.

21st November: Lara changed the layout of the website and miss gave us some feedback on how to improve our blog and its layout. I also improved some blog posts and added some pictures to my blog to make it more exciting.

24th November: In today’s lesson I created another tour poster to advertise Grace, I used a different photo to last time and a different style of font to see what looks the most professional. I have also experimented with the colour of the background of the poster and to see what goes best with the themes. Lara has also created her own poster too.

25th November: Lara and I uploaded the posters onto our blogs and then Lara carried on editing the music video and add any more footage to it that needs to.

26th November: In the lesson today Lara and I started creating the back of the CD cover for our digipak and then we can carry on creating the rest of it so we can put it all together.

27th November: Today I carried on creating the digipak and improving it by changing the size of the font and the colour contrasts. Charlotte and Lara sat next to me and gave me some ideas on helping me with the design.

28th November: In class today I carried on designing and improving our digipak. Lara had already created the front cover of the album and I had already created the back of the CD cover and when we put them together they didn’t like they were the same CD. Therefore Lara and I decided to edit and change the letters that say ‘In Time’ on the front cover by adding the glittery text from the background of the back of the CD Cover. Lara then went onto Photoshop and started to add the glitter into the font and change the opacity so it fades well.

1st December: Lara and I created the lyrics page and CD for our digipak in class. The first draft of our digipak was due today.

2nd December: In the lesson I created a CD design I thought would go well with our overall design. However Charlotte and Lara did not like it as it did not match with the rest of the CD. I then decided to start again whilst the other two gave me feedback.

3rd December: Today Lara and I finally finished the digipak and uploaded it onto our blogs and also we were sorting out our labels on our blogs to make things easier to view and make it more professional to look at.

4th December: In class today all of us caught up on some blog posts and uploaded any posts that were on draft. We received some feedback from our first digipak draft, some of the feedback we agreed with so we decided to change it, Lara and I discussed what we could do to change it.  Lara went onto the special thanks page so that the glitter design was incorporated into the page. Lara also edited the picture page and changed the design completely and added the background to be the glitter design. We were pleased with the final result.

5th December: Today in class we watched all the year 13’s music videos first drafts and analysed them and gave them feedback so that everyone knew what to improve on.

8th December: We watched all the year 12’s opening sequences today in class and we had to give each group feedback so that they knew what they had to improve on and what could make it better.

9th December: We went through and put some changes of the digipak together to make it better than before.

10th December: We looked through all the feedback we had received from the year group for our music video so far and decided to change some of the shots as all the criticism was pretty much the same. So Lara and Charlotte decided to go through and delete any scenes that were not needed and then they sat down with Miss to see what we could do to fill in the gaps. Our teachers said to just make each shot we had longer but we did not like this idea as it would make our music video not unprofessional as each shot would be really long. So we all decided to discuss what else we could film to achieve more footage.

11th December: We decided to film again in the classroom with Charlotte using her silhouette with the white sheet in the background. We planned everything we need to film for the next day.

12th December: In class today we took the time to reshoot for our music video and Charlotte sat in all different positions to make the camera work look more exciting.

15th December: Today I made a shooting schedule for all the shots we had planned to film and what order we put them in and this will help us for when we edit out video.

16th December: This lesson we took the footage we filmed the day before and added it to our other footage to make it look more professional.

17th December: Today I made a risk assessment to write about what could have gone wrong in our video whilst Lara and Charlotte carried on editing the footage.

18th December: Today we all made the last finishing touches on editing the footage we had filmed on the 12th and we have added colours in the background to make it look different and more exciting.

19th December: In the lesson today I uploaded the final draft of our music video on YouTube so then I could put it onto my blog.
